World Environment Day Celebrated

Jun 6
1 min read

World Environment Day is about caring for the environment and generating awareness of the importance of birds and animals and trees in our busy urban life.

The communities and people among whom we work face the realties of Patna soon becoming a concrete jungle, where trees disappear, and birds, butterflies, and other creatures are almost not seen.

Students and instructors from our skill development centres (tailoring units) spent the day at Tarumitra, the premier environmental learning institution in Patna, which has lush greenery, birds and animals all around the campus.

The celebration started off with a tribute to the Goan environmentalist and social worker Fr. Bolmax Pereira. Sister Dorothy spoke about the life and contribution of this great personality.

Tarumitra director Fr Anthony P engaged the participants with several interesting facets of the environment, such as helping them know about different kinds of birds, about the use of earth materials in construction, and about useful and medicinal trees on the campus.

Tree plantation and a simple lunch was also part of the event.

All senior team members of Aashray Abhiyan participated.

The staff and personnel of Tarumitra Ashram facilitated in this collaborative venture.
