Jan Kalyan Gramin Vikas Samiti is a non-governmental social action organization based in Bihar, India. The organization focuses on advocating for the poor and disadvantaged people in urban slums. Our vision is to create a society where every individual has access to basic necessities and opportunities for growth and development. Join us in our mission to bring about positive change and uplift the lives of those in need.
Our Inspiration: Nano Nagle (1718-1784), an Irish educator, devoted her life to educating poor children despite the oppressive Penal Laws of her time. She founded the Presentation Sisters, a religious order that continues her mission globally. Her fearless efforts earned her the title Venerable from the Catholic Church.
नैनो नेगल (1718-1784) एक आयरिश शिक्षिका थीं। उन्होंने गरीब बच्चों को पढ़ाने के लिए अपनी जिंदगी समर्पित कर दी, भले ही उस समय सख्त कानून थे। उन्होंने प्रेजेंटेशन सिस्टर्स नाम का एक धार्मिक समूह बनाया, जो आज भी दुनिया भर में उनका काम जारी रखता है। उनके नन्हे प्रयासों के कारण कैथोलिक चर्च ने उन्हें "वेनरेबल" की उपाधि दी।
Dorothy Fernandes pbvm, an educationist by profession, arrived in Patna on 15 June 1997 to teach social justice and women empowerment at the Regional Pastoral Centre. Concerned by the poor quality of education in Bihar, she extended her efforts to rural Maner Block, where she imparted education to rural children. Furthermore, since 2003, her passion for the urban poor has led her to engage with the informal sector and homeless communities, educating them about their rights to help restore their lost dignity.
डोरोथी फर्नांडिस pbvm, जो पेशे से शिक्षिका हैं, 15 जून 1997 को पटना आईं। उन्होंने रीजनल पास्टोरल सेंटर में सामाजिक न्याय और महिलाओं के सशक्तिकरण की शिक्षा दी। बिहार में शिक्षा की खराब स्थिति से चिंतित होकर, उन्होंने ग्रामीण मनेर ब्लॉक में बच्चों को पढ़ाना शुरू किया। साथ ही, 2003 से वे शहरी गरीबों के लिए काम कर रही हैं, अनौपचारिक क्षेत्र और बेघर लोगों को उनके अधिकारों के बारे में सिखाकर उनकी खोई गरिमा वापस दिलाने में मदद कर रही हैं।
Rajesh Kumar - Assistant Director and Treasurer
Rajesh has been part of our team for 21 years. He holds a Master's degree in Sociology and is one of the original pioneers who have been with JKGVS since its inception in 2003. He manages the finances and oversees the operations of eight sewing centres and two learning centres.

Ranjeet Kumar joined our team in 2006 and has since become a vital member. He serves as the coordinator for the construction workers, demonstrating exceptional rapport not only with them but also with all the communities across the settlements. He has established strong connections with the Labour Department of the Government of Bihar, and through his efforts, more than 5,000 workers have been registered with the department.
रंजीत कुमार 2006 में हमारी टीम में शामिल हुए और अब एक महत्वपूर्ण सदस्य हैं। वे निर्माण श्रमिकों के समन्वयक हैं और न सिर्फ उनके साथ, बल्कि बस्तियों की सभी समुदायों के साथ अच्छा रिश्ता रखते हैं। उन्होंने बिहार सरकार के श्रम विभाग से मजबूत संबंध बनाए हैं और उनके प्रयासों से 5,000 से अधिक श्रमिक विभाग में पंजीकृत हुए हैं।
Dilip Patel serves as the HR representative for our organisation. He joined us in 2010. He possesses extensive knowledge of government departments and a deep understanding of the system. Unafraid to confront officials, he stands as a steadfast pillar of support for the struggling community and their families, empowering them to remain resilient in the face of adversity. Dilip is our Hindi writer who drafts letters, press releases, and guides the women on the procedures to access the different development schemes from the government.
दिलीप पटेल हमारी संस्था के एचआर प्रतिनिधि हैं। वे 2010 में हमारे साथ आए। उन्हें सरकारी विभागों की अच्छी जानकारी और सिस्टम की गहरी समझ है। वे अधिकारियों से नहीं डरते और मुश्किल में फंसे लोगों और उनके परिवारों के लिए मजबूत सहारा हैं, जिससे वे मुश्किलों का सामना कर सकें। दिलीप हमारा हिंदी लेखक भी है, जो पत्र, प्रेस विज्ञप्ति लिखता है और महिलाओं को सरकारी योजनाओं का लाभ लेने की प्रक्रिया समझाता है।
Sudershan Kumar has been with us since 2010, having previously worked as an ATM guard. After joining our organisation, he earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology.
As the vendor coordinator, he resolves their issues and facilitates Mudra loans through Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC), leveraging his strong rapport with them during visits to the Commissioner. Additionally, he manages our computers, handles Hindi typing, and oversees bank-related tasks.

Arun has been part of our team for at least a decade, with a brief interruption. He is a dependable field worker, excels at speaking to crowds, is an outstanding orator, and possesses a strong understanding of political matters.

Aiman Fatima has been with us for two years. She trains 60 adolescent girls to shift their mindset and chase their dreams, envisioning a life beyond marriage. Through regular capacity-building sessions in the settlements, she inspires these young women to become change-makers.
ऐमन फातिमा दो साल से हमारे साथ हैं। वह 60 किशोर लड़कियों को सोच बदलने और अपने सपनों को पूरा करने के लिए प्रशिक्षित करती हैं, शादी से आगे की जिंदगी सोचने के लिए। बस्तियों में नियमित सत्रों के जरिए, वह इन युवतियों को बदलाव लाने वाली बनने के लिए प्रेरित करती हैं।
