Raising Labour Concerns

On July 30, the “Bihar Labour Rights Conference” was organized in the “Bihar Legislative Council Auditorium” in Patna, with the support of the Aashray Abhiyan and the Working People’s Coalition, where issues related to the welfare and rights of labourers were discussed.
The conference addressed topics such as resistance against evictions, the right to housing, the right to employment for street vendors, welfare programs for construction workers, urban employment guarantees, migrant workers, and MGNREGA workers.

Addressing the Bihar Labour Rights Conference, CPI(ML) National General Secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya stated that the ruling coalition works against the values of the Indian the Constitution, with the process already beginning in Bihar.
Dorothy Fernandes in her address, noted that street vendors in Bihar are being forcibly evicted through bulldozer actions. She demanded that the government stop the eviction and demolition of shops in slums, warning that otherwise, a phased movement would be launched. (see pic)
The conference was attended by CPI(ML) leader and Legislative Council member Shashi Yadav, former minister Uday Narayan Chaudhary, former MLA Poonam Devi, Raju Bhimse, Prakash Kumar, Rajesh Upadhyay, Arvind Murti, Dilip Patel, Rukmini Devi, Suryanarayan Sharma, Dharmendra Kumar, Shashi Kumar, Sanjay Kumar, Shambhu Kumar, Ranjeet Kumar, Sudarshan Kumar, and representatives form the affected communities.
