Helping Citizens access Voting Rights

It is with a sense of relief that concerned citizens and civil society organizations learned of a move by the election commission to re-register and update the electoral rolls in a special 2-day camp to be held on the 25th and 26th October.

It has come to light that several people living in our focus communities were deprived of their legitimate right to vote in he past Vidhan Sabha election owing to what is being accepted as some oversight, omissions or commissions on the part of the electoral machinery.

So it is but natural that the Aashray Abhiyan team is busy spreading awareness and encouraging the people to visit the camp registration centres, which will be housed in the local government schools, and helping them to get their identification and other documents ready.

It goes without saying that we believe that a free and fair and transparent electoral process rooted in the values of the Indian Constitution
