Teachers' day at Sewing Centres
The 5th of August was National Teachers' Day and it is a great occasion to celebrate our teachers from the sewing centres and the community outreach programmes for kids. Our sewing centre instructors are built in the same spirit as India's first women teachers: Savitribai Phule and Fatima Sheikh, the two women who braved the taunts and obstacles of a venomous opposition to girls' education by an entrenched patriarchy.

The girls undergoing skill training at the Aashray Abhiyan skill centres, face no small hurdles in their day to day lives, and coming to the centre is an achievement in itself.
These girls got together to celebrate and thank the people who work so hard to being them the light of vocational education. There were speeches, songs, and even a cake to celebrate their teachers.
