The oldest vegetable market in Patna, known as the “Haryali Market” is always under the scanner as the District Magistrate’s office, the Collectorate and civil court are in the same vicinity.
The rush to buy fresh vegetables, without getting down from their two wheelers causes the traffic jam.
In the course of action what happens is the vendors have to pay the price as their goods area often confiscated and they have to pay the fine.
It was under these circumstances, the issue was placed before the Commissioner – Patna Municipal Corporation.
After placing the facts before the official a visit was made by Gaurav AE from the PMC.
Dilipji and Raj Kumar – vendor from Anta Ghat accompanied us as we moved through the market.
We had a good visit around the entire market and it was quite evident that there was sufficient place to construct a good market and to adjust all the vendors as well.
It was worth the exercise, we only hope that we will be able to continue to ensure that the development and allotment of the vending space will take place soon.
